Our history is one source of measurement. It is our physical existence that has passed through time. Our ideas may come and go, but our actions leave a permanent impression onto our physical existence. The responses to these actions taken in our physical existence can been seen and evaluated. From this we can learn.

I am an antiquarian book, pamphlet and newspaper collector. I have items  from the 17th century through the 19th century. My interests in old philosophy, natural law and ideas of morality took me to the quest of old books and materials. Sometimes I could only find the books I wanted through old and original publications. Sometimes the old books cost as much as the reprints. From ebay to various book, pamphlet and newspaper sellers, I have acquired items from around the world.

In my search, I also came across books from early America that were pro-slavery. I could not fathom how someone could write justifications for slavery. This expanded my interest and inventory. It is not only important to understand ideas that we agree with, but to examine offered ideas we do not agree with or understand. To see, from my thesisist position, how people animate ideas, with and without the required links to the physical. In this quest, it can be seen that when we measure our ideas against the chaos of the human mind, we easily end with conflicting ideas that can neutralize moral positions. This is what I offered in my book, had happened in early America. That capitalism is without moral conscious. That religion, as it measures against thought existence, can animate any position. This is demonstrated here in historical writings. Demonstrated is the moral cancellation until people become so pushed by the obvious physical existence violation of equal thesis morality that it brings unbearable pain to our physical senses.

I must state that my collection is that of an amateur. I do not have the financial resources to purchase what is considered rare pieces. However, typically in regard to American history, the rarer and more expensive items are usually the well known and well published writings. In this regard, the history is available. What I have found is that material where commentaries given, both good or bad, about the founding patriots or on certain subject, such as slavery, by the common or regular folks, expands our present day narrow discourse. Additionally, it is usually not sought and much less expensive. This has provided me a fuller understanding of the positions of the people at the time. It is in this that not only is this hobby interesting, but also more affordable than may be expected.

As time permits, I would like to place PDF copies of different books, pamphlets and newspapers in this area for anyone to view. Creating a PDF of items takes time, and I am trying to find ways of scanning/photographing them without stressing these old pieces as well. Additionally, to convert them quickly into PDF that is readable. Some issues at present is that the process of scanning/photographing is slow. Conversion is slow, as adjustments must be made after scanning/photographing, and attention to file size may determine final quality and quantity.

I hope you may find of value and enjoy the small offering here.
